In mid-October of 2004, five hundred used books were released in Seattle, each imprinted with these three simple instructions:
1. Read It.
2. Post It.
3. Pass It On.
Unfortunately, in August of 2006, all of our data was destroyed by an attack on our web server.
Hasty Rhizome Productions does not have the resources to restore our site at this time, so we've been forced to terminate the Appleseed Experiment.
If you've found an Appleseed book, we encourage you to register it on BookCrossing.com, a wildly successful project very much in the spirit of our own project.
In the spirit of community building, and in memory of Jim Clowes - who inspired this project and who's personal library fueled it's launch - we also ask that you share the books you read with the people around you, and discuss them freely. Through literacy, humility, and the exchange of ideas we take a huge step towards understanding our neighbors and building a better world.
